Guitar and Song Introduction
Welcome to guitarandsong.com. If you are a beginner or can play a bit, I hope you can get something from this website that can progress your guitar playing or just inform you of some ideas about the guitar as an instrument.
The site is split into a few main areas. Firstly I have a section where I have uploaded all my own songs that I have written and recorded at home over the past few years. In this section a have a little info on the songs and the equipment used. There is also a music player so you can hear the results of my recordings.
The Guitar Resource section is the main index for all guitar resources that I think are important when learning or playing the guitar. It has a some good sub sections like guitar chords, scales, exercises, guitar riffs and some good guitar song tabs. The guitar chord and guitar scales areas have diagrams and tabs of each chord and scale from all the major keys. The guitar chord section also has a guitar chord chart that you can quickly use to find out what key a song is in and what scales or modes would be best suited to play over that song for a guitar solo or just for jamming.
The guitar scales section will eventually have a guitar tab diagram for all the popular guitar scales used today in music, and some not so well know guitar scales. This section will also go into some theory on how scales are made up and their structures.
Ever wanted to play faster, or change chords smoother and quicker well the Guitar Exercise section will host some simple warm-ups and guitar exercises that will help with speed, picking and chord fingering. It will also have some videos that will help demonstrate these exercises, that can be viewed along with the guitar tabs.
If you like learning new riffs and runs then the Guitar Riff section will be of interest. This section will host guitar tabs and videos where you can view some popular and original guitar riffs. I intend to use this section for submitting your own original guitar riffs and runs that you have invented and would like to share with fellow guitarists.
Finally if you would like some song tabs that can be used for practice then the song tabs section of Guitar Resource is the section where I have uploaded some simple guitar tabs for some popular songs. Here you will find my versions these easy guitar songs that I use for warming up and practice. Again if you wish to submit to this section to share your own guitar tabs and song tabs with others who love the guitar just drop me a mail.
Guitar Forum
A new addition to Guitar and Song is the guitar forum. At the main links at the top of the page is a link to the beginners guitar forum that I have started. It is mainly for the beginner but also has a few other sections for experienced players as well, as we will need them to help out members asking some of the more basic questions with regard to learning the guitar. I hope you all find it useful and again any comments or suggestions on improvements are always welcome.
Guitar Videos
Guitar Videos is just a fun section where I have posted up my poor attempts at playing some guitar based songs. They are there for your enjoyment (or torture) and again it might be a good place to add your own videos, from youtube guitar related links for other guitarists to enjoy.
If you would like to share links to other great guitar tab websites or any other music or song related website please contact me with the web address of the site and I will add it to my links page. At present I have some nice web sites that will be of interest with some original music from some great guitar players.
Guitar Songs News and Updates
I am always looking for ideas and suggestions on ways to improve the site to help create a better guitar resource website. If you have any ideas please click on the contact me tab and send me an e-mail with any comments. I have introduced a guitar blog to keep people up to date with content on the site and new things that have been added.
The main thing recently that has been added to the site is the beginners guitar forum. This will be an area of the site where you can start threads and post comments in a variety of sections designed to help the beginner and also the more experienced guitarist. It will also have sections where we can submit reviews on guitars, amps, effects, recording equipment. Recently I have added a section for requesting tabs for songs. It will also have sections where you can discuss bands, online guitar lessons, music guitar theory, lessons, exercises and much more. The idea will be that if we as guitarists can share this information the forum will be there for us all to use.
The chord and scale sections are sections of the site I hope to keep updating. These will give guitar tab images of guitar chords and scales, and some helpful information that will assist in improvisation and soloing. The chord section will eventually have a whole list of every chord I can get my hands on and will be updated daily so please keep checking.
Guitar Resource Section
I thought I should take some time and space on the index page to introduce the Guitar Resource section of the site. Here I have divided the topic of guitar tabs up into five sections. These sections are as follows: Song Tabs, Guitar Chords Tabs, Guitar Scales Tabs, Guitar Exercise Tabs and Guitar Riff Tabs. These are five sections that I consider important in playing and learning to play the guitar.
The Guitar Song Tabs part is a small section for now and consists of easy to learn guitar tabs that I have put together for some easy and popular songs. I know there are not many at present but this is mainly due to the fact that I am creating this site by myself and have to take the time to put the songs onto the site in a guitar tab format. If anybody would like to submit tabs then you can e-mail them to me at my Contact Address and I will post them onto the site and I'll happily put up your name and contact link if you so wish.
Guitar Chords Tabs does exactly what it says. Its a list of as many guitar chords I can think of and I have tried to put them into some order. In this section I have also put a Guitar Chord Chart that will help guitarist find the key a song is in and help when trying to find a scale or mode when trying to put a guitar solo together for a song of your own.
In Guitar Scales Tabs I have started to put up a list of every guitar scale I can possibly get my hands on. Again this will be a large section and will take a bit of time so I have started with popular scales like the pentatonic, minor, major scales, etc... These will help with other sections of the site like the Guitar Riffs section when I get that off the ground and will help to explain what scale or mode has been used when coming up with a particular riff.
This selection of Guitar Exercise Tabs I hope will be one of the most helpful on the site. Here I have got together a whole array of different guitar exercise tabs that will help with finger strength, finger speed, accuracy, positioning and more. These are exercises that I have been shown over the years by different guitarists. They are for both the beginner and more experienced guitarists as I didn't start to use them until about two years ago and had already been playing for about ten years. I was self taught and reached a point I didn't think I could get any better and to be honest I wasn't that great with no speed or accuracy. But with some practice of the correct exercises and lessons my playing has moved on again.
Recently a friend of the site contacted me with regards to a song he was trying to find the guitar tab for it was Supersede by Jackie Greene. I too couldn't find it so I decided to tab the song in my own way. The guitar tab is my own work and represents my interpretation of the song. It is intended solely for private study and practice. I decided that it would be good to offer this to others who can't find the guitar tabs or guitar chords for certain songs so if you come across a song you would like a guitar tab or chords for please contact me with details. Check out my version of Supersede by Jackie Greene to see if it sounds OK.
